On 24th of February 2022 the Russian government dramatically increased their aggression against Ukraine, which began in 2014 with the annexation of Crimea, with a full fledged invasion. This caused the largest movement of people in Europe since World War II with over 1.3 million Ukrainians fleeing to neighboring Poland and beyond. Serve the City Kraków responded by helping over 5,000 individuals in the first few months of the war, and for two years ran a Ukrainian refugee home.

WHAT is happening now?

At the moment STC Kraków continues to provide practical care, have workshops, and assist refugees from Ukraine on a daily basis. There are still many needs and as Russia steps up its attacks more people consider fleeing every day. On a weekly basis STC Kraków receives requests from Ukrainians for housing, aid (in Kraków and in Ukraine), and other assistance. We are happy that This home was closed in February 2024 due to the lack of continuing funding, however we consider the mission well done because over 45 families went from instability to sustainable while living in the STC refugee home for two years where Polish lessons, job training, and integration occurred.

What are STC Kraków doing?

STC Kraków continues to provide Polish and English language workshops, find job training programs, locate and assist with accommodations (most refugees are elderly or mothers with young children unable to work full time, not to mention the much more expensive cost of living while still supporting husbands in Ukraine), and other integration efforts to help make a new life in Poland.

HOW you can help?

Your donations will provide....

Continued opportunities for refugees from Ukraine to get job training, accomodation assistance, language lessons, and othe practical help. STC Kraków is also preparing for more waves of refugees as Ukraine is heavily attacked by Russia and critical infrastructure is destroyed. A "ready" fund is being developed in order to swiftly respond the needs as they occur. Also you can contact STC Kraków and see how you or your team could serve in Kraków! Email: info@servthecity.pl or visit their website for more information.
